Ferry Booking & Ticketing Software

How a ferry reservation becomes a journey booking.

A ferry reservation connects a travelling party with a selected sailing and a defined status. The important question is what that status means for capacity, payment and the next staff action.

1. Select a journey

The operator publishes the routes and timetable. The booking process selects the outward journey and, where required, a return with its own availability.

Read the status before interpreting availability

A saved record may represent a provisional request, a confirmed booking or another configured state. These meanings affect the next staff action and may affect capacity. Do not assume that the word reservation always means a place has been held. Follow one example through its initial record, confirmation, payment and any later change to understand the setup.

  • Selected sailing and travelling party
  • Capacity meaning of the recorded status
  • The next confirmation or payment action

2. Add the traffic being carried

Ticket quantities and vehicle details establish what is being requested. Availability is checked according to the configured passenger and vehicle rules.

3. Set the reservation state

A provisional reservation is not automatically a capacity hold. In Travelmanager, unconfirmed provisional reservations can be configured not to consume capacity. Agree the intended rule before using the process commercially.

4. Complete or amend the booking

Payment, ticket issue and confirmation follow the configured workflow. If the date or vehicle changes, staff need to review the affected capacity, price and documents together.
